homes we carry

synopsis

Homes We Carry is a trilogy of interconnected films, Last Letters, The Longing and Writing Back To You, which explore displacement not as single moments of rupture, but as ongoing conditions shaped by memory, longing, and reconstruction. Moving across shifting geographies and constructed narrative spaces, the films examine how the idea of home persists, transforms, and is continually reimagined.

Structured as a triptych—before, between, and beyond—the trilogy resists the conventional narrative of departure and arrival. Instead, it positions identity as an ongoing construction, where memory does not anchor the self to the past, but becomes material through which new forms of belonging are produced.

Through letters, personal reflections, and intimate visual fragments, each film offers a distinct yet interconnected perspective on what it means to belong.

At its core, Homes We Carry suggests that home is not fixed to a place, but embedded within the body and memory—sustained through language, ritual, and connection. In doing so, the trilogy creates a space where personal histories intersect with broader questions of displacement, challenging simplified representations and opening up a more nuanced, human understanding of what it means to live between worlds.
